Business incubator in the Technology Park of San Sebastian

Miramon, San Sebastian. Spain

Client: Gipuzkoa Technology Park.

Consuming the maximum floor area permitted requires filling the three floors permitted, but obtaining well-lit spaces entails the need to generate a void, that gives rise to longer useful façades and shallower spaces with respect to them.

To achieve a central void without the loss of surface area, the two upper floors are staggered towards the shorter sides. It is, to put it graphically, a case of “opening the box”.

This void creates a large opening in the façade that is used to access the two independent pedestrian entrances that the building must have.

These two gestures, the overhangs and the large opening in the façade, allow the building, whose façades are in harmony with the rest of the Park, to stand out likewise for its singularity.
