State School in Aiete

San Sebastian. Spain.

Client: Basque Government

The plot is a steep slope facing south, with access from the highest area, the north-east corner.

The building is located at the north edge, leaving the lower, sunnier area free for a playground, as far as possible from the northeast corner to generate open spaces that facilitate entry into the school. We designed a light portico covering the entrance.

The building is set out in three floors: the access floor, with the administrative area, multi-use rooms, library and resources, the lunch room with its kitchen, etc., the intermediate floor with all the classrooms, and a floor at the level of the playground, with the gym, changing rooms, the porch and the general services areas.
