Hotel at a palatial house in Fuenmayor

Fuenmayor (La Rioja). Spain.

Client: Señorío de Rioja

This heritage building was rebuilt in the 1910s, after clearing the interior of a palatial house from the 18th Century; the perimeter walls, although greatly transformed, the front of the main façade, its coat-of-arms and the Oratory date back to that period.

The project was to build a four-star hotel with 30 rooms, clearing the interior, while preserving the oratory, and reconstructing the central void crowned by the roof lantern, where the main staircase was located. This void became the principal space of the building, bathed in light from the lantern, around which the different storeys are organised.
