Surroundings of the Tabakalera Cultural Centre, San Sebastian

Eguia, San Sebastian. Spain.

Client: Municipality of San Sebastian.

We proposed the conquest of a new public space, a terrace open to the Urumea River in front of Tabakalera's west façade, above the train lines, sharing the attitude of celebrating the landscape of other well-known spaces of San Sebastian and attempting to elevate it with the exaltation of the River's presence.

The Plaza, built above the train lines, could serve as a roof for some of the platforms that need to be larger for the high-speed trains, and even shelter a new building to extend the Station.

It converts the district of Egia into a viewpoint over the Urumea river at the same time as creating, physically and symbolically, a pedestrian connection, one to one, with the city centre.
