Municipal Sports Centre, Logroño

Lobete, Logroño (La Rioja). Spain.

Client: Municipality of Logroño

In association with Construcciones José Martín and VIAS.

The layout of the complex is very rational. The floor plans are set out on two perpendicular axes, the general vestibule, and the backbone of the building, a strip that concentrates the accesses to each of the areas (ice rink, sports pitch, pool, health resort), and the service areas: the changing rooms, the toilets, the spectators' area and the installation facilities.

This rationality is not only geometric and functional, but extends to the facilities, organised like those of the human body, sharing vital elements, and to the structure, as the linear body of concrete provides rigidity to the supports of the metallic structures of the ice rink and sports pitch; and volumetric rationale, as all the decks converge towards this central axis.
