Rioja Wine Cultural Centre

Old Quarter, Logroño (La Rioja). Spain.

Client: Municipality of Logroño

In association with Jesús González Menorca.

The section of the building is a vertical route that descends from the street to the "calados", through the archaeological remains that are a testament to the winemaking tradition. From here it ascends through spaces for wine-related activities up to the viewpoint over the Old Quarter, the modern city, and the landscape that surrounds it.

The Centre protrudes over the houses of the Old Quarter like the towers of the four churches, seeking the River. The tower is a large luminous "beacon", a symbol of the rebirth of the Old Quarter, contributing to the new role of the Ebro as the "city's high street".
