Old Municipal Abattoir of Logroño (La Rioja). Spain.

Client: Municipality of Logroño.

The old Municipal Abattoir was built in 1911 on the other side of the Ebro River, into which its waste was dumped, with its back to the city. It is an outstanding building, and well-regarded by the people of Logroño.

To be used as a Science Museum, its rear, looking out over the river, became the main façade, accessed from a terrace over the Ebro River.

In the two open spaces that lie between its pavilions, on each side of the main space, we designed roofs with skylights, visible as a sign of its transformation.
