Cultural Factory for Dance and Performing Arts

Errenteria (Gipuzkoa). Spain.

Client: Municipality of Errenteria and Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.

The goal was to equip the former bread factory to house the Dantzagunea Centre for Dance and Performing Arts, now part of Arteleku arts centre.

We maintained the existing building, protected by the coastal law and its value as industrial heritage, adding a volume to the rear that enabled the centre's needs to be fulfilled.

With the exception of the front rationalist volume, the rest of the façades are covered with golden plating, opaque or perforated depending on the area. With vertical folds, it is reminiscent of a curtain, behind which the activities taking place in the building are concealed. For the lower parts, we proposed dedicating them to STREET ART.

The interior proposal is a simple response to the compatibility of the different circulation needs of the users and the public.
